*To create Raku, you first need to make ceramic objects at my place that will then be raku-burned. This is how Raku is created, as this is a process with objects that are burned for the first time in my electric oven. *

Raku means that we burn outdoors, it is an ancient tradition that originated in Japan. Raku is known for the effects in the glaze, crackling/checkerboard pattern. The outcome is hard to predict and that's part of the allure, letting go of control for a moment, it's a hot process. Joy and happiness come from letting go of control for a moment, cooperating with fire and the other elements, and an experience that produces quick results.
My name is Helen Blästa, ceramist and teaching artist. I have extensive experience in supporting individuals in their creation. Raku is a spice that gives unexpected and beautiful results, with my help you succeed on the first try! A Raku burn is marked by anticipation and excitement far beyond the ordinary!
What is included
Two different days/occasions. Ceramic clay, firing, glaze, paints and other materials as well as coffee included.
Practical information
The course is a two-part experience as I guide you from clay to finished results. An experience best suited for summer or autumn. After you have painted and glazed your work, the Raku burning itself takes place. It is characterized by the fact that it takes about an hour+ time for post-processing quite quickly, then you can bring your works home!
Bring clothes and shoes outside.
